Do I need an appointment to bring in consignments?

All consignments are accepted seasonally and by appointment only. 

When do you start taking appointments for each season?

Consignors can begin making appointments to bring in Spring and Summer clothing late January/early February, and can begin making appointments to bring in Fall and Winter clothing late July/early August.  For an exact date, see the "Appointments" tab.  Please be aware that appointment slots fill up quickly.  We recommend that you make your appointment as early as possible each season.
 
Is there a consignment fee?

No

What size clothing do you accept and sell?

We accept children's clothing sizes newborn through size sixteen. Infant/toddler shoe sizes 0-13½ and children's shoe sizes 1-6. Maternity clothing sizes extra small to extra large are also accepted. 
 
What should I expect when I arrive to my appointment?

That depends on what kind of appointment you make: 

If you make a "30 item or less" appointment or a "15 items or less" appointment, a Growing Years staff will inspect each item and determine whether the item will be accepted. All items not accepted for consignment will be returned to the consignor while you wait.

For drop and run appointments with no returns we will not go through the items while you wait and we will donate anything we do not accept.

For drop and run appointments with returns we will not go through the items while you wait, but will call you to pick up your returns and you will have 7 days to pick them up.

How long do my items stay on the selling floor?

All items have 60 days to sell from the day they go out on the selling floor. After an item remains on the selling floor for 30 days, it will be reduced to half price.

What happens to my items after the 60 days?

Once the items have expired, consignors may come back and pick up anything that did not sell. If they are not picked up, then they will be donated to charitable organizations.

What percentage do I get when my items sell?

Consignors will get 40% of what the item sells for. 

When will my items go out on the selling floor?

Due to fluctuations in inventory and the nature of the consignment business, we cannot predict when items accepted for consignment will be placed on the selling floor. We will make every effort to place all items for sale in a reasonably prompt manner.

I am looking for a certain equipment item, but The Growing Years does not have it in. Is there anything you can do?

We will take your name and number with what you are looking for and call you once the item comes in.

How do I pick up a check for the items I sold at your store?

Consignors may request a check ($300 max per month) during store hours between the 15th and the last day of each month. We do not issue checks during the months of January and July. Consignors may use store credit at any time.

Other than clothing and shoes, what else do you accept on consignment?

Other than clothing we accept the following items:
-Baby Bjorns/ Ergo Carriers
-Bouncy Seats
-Children's books
-Strollers
-Pack n' Plays
-Bikes and scooters
-Bike trailers

Do you accept any toys?

Unfortunately because of space we cannot accept any toys with the exception of American Girl Doll items.

What type of clothing do you accept?

We accept gently-worn clothing that is no more than 5 years old. All clothing must be free of stains, holes, or missing pieces. All clothing should be washed and clean.

We take a limited amount of discounted brand clothing-including:
Arizona, Baby Inc., Basic Edition, Cherokee, Circo, Classic Pooh, Covington, Corkey's Kids, Little Wonders, Faded Glory, George, Health-Tex, Koala Kids, McKids, Sesame Street, Sonoma, Min-Wear, Xhileration, and Wonderkids.

We do not accept infant hats, onesies, and thin tights (the heavier/thicker tights for the winter are fine).
Policies



1.       The Growing Years, Inc. (“TGY”) accepts consignments by appointment only.  TGY reserves the right to reject all items offered for consignment for any reason whatsoever.

2.       If a stain, rip, or missing button is later discovered after already having been accepted, or once on the selling floor, the item will be donated.

3.       If an item is found on the Consumer Product Safety Recall list you will be notified to pick up the item.

4.       TGY requests that consignors give at least 48 hours notice if an appointment must be canceled.  If TGY is not given enough notice we may be unable to reschedule your appointment.

5.       Prices for consigned items will be solely determined by TGY in its professional discretion and experience.  TGY will pay the consignor 40% of the selling price of each item.

6.      There is a 15 item minimum for new consignors.

7.       All consigned items have 60 days to sell.  After an item remains on the selling floor for 30 days, it will be reduced to half price.  The consignor may come to pick up any unsold items one week prior to their 60 day mark. After 60 days, the item becomes the property of TGY.

8.       Due to fluctuations in inventory and the nature of the consignment business, TGY cannot predict when items accepted for consignment will be placed on the selling floor.  TGY will make every effort to place all items for sale in a reasonably prompt manner.

9.       TGY is not responsible, and shall not be held liable, for the loss or damage of any item accepted for consignment, whether caused by theft, fire, water, or otherwise.  Consignors consign all items with TGY at their own risk. 

10.       All items are sold “as is.”  TGY is not responsible, and shall not be held liable, for any defects or product liability claims relating to any item sold.

11.   Sales are credited to the consignor’s account each month on the 15th, from the previous month.  (I.E. an item sold on the 2nd of January, will be credited to the consignor’s account on February 15th)

12.   Consignors may request consignment checks during store hours between the 15th and the last day of each month.  TGY does not issue consignment checks during the months of January and July. Checks are not mailed out, unless the consignor is moving out of the area. TGY will not issue a check to a consignor for more than $300 each month.  If you have additional money in your account, you may pick it up in the following months or use it as store credit at any time.
